On Tuesday, November 4 the next meeting of the Practical Philosophy Club will again take place at the Kingdom (Biskupia St. 18/1). This time, we the topic is "Hate towards women". The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m., and the discussion will be held in English. Admission, as always, is free.
What does the word misogyny actually describe? What behaviors or attitudes should count as hate toward women, if any?
Are there natural or cultural reasons why some people develop hostility toward women?
Should rape laws require victims to prove non-consent, or defendants to prove consent was freely given?
Why does discourse treat men and women differently when the same behaviour or attitude is present?
Can men be feminists?
Where do we see "benevolent" misogyny in daily life (e.g., chivalry, protective stereotypes)? Is it harmful, harmless, or context-dependent?
If a woman freely chooses a "tradwife" lifestyle and defends patriarchy as natural, is it misogyny to criticize her choice?
Are incels victims of misogyny (rejected and radicalized by a hyper-feminized dating market) or its most honest perpetrators?
Does the backlash against "woke" feminism indicate a resurgence of patriarchy, or a legitimate criticism of overreach? Where's the line?
